Kennack Sands - Easy Beach Day - 28/05/23

The plan today was not to drive anywhere so we made our way down to the beach and setup the sun tent and it was straight into the water.     Lots of swimming in the clear waters, games of frisbee and stick ball.     Picnic on the beach and we all got a little burnt. We packed up and as we waited for ice creams we got chatting to a lady who was walking the coastal path from Poole to Minehead. Really interesting chatting to her.  Here is the link to her Instagram page where you can track her progress. Back to the caravan for a swim in the site pool before an early tea.    We set off on a geocache walk. The first cache we searched we found a slow worm which made me jump out of my skin and caused the girls to scream.  It was anything but slow Robert couldn’t see what all the fuss was about. Learnings for Next Time

I've had a couple of weeks to reflect on the experience and what have I learnt? Better preparation and get there a little earlier next time.  Pack transition bags ahead of time and include options for all weather. I should have included overshoes for the bike, especially considering how wet it was. Socks, talc and vaseline.  Just these alone would have meant knocking minutes off the run time.  The sore feet meant i was soooooo slow.  Taking the first few miles as an indicator I could have gone at least 20 minutes quicker. Being better organised in transition. Anne-Marie's flapjacks will be my standard fuel going forward.  So much nicer than energy gels and much more palatable. I thought before hand it would be hard but to be honest i really enjoyed it.  The atmosphere and support were fantastic and taking these learnings i could make big improvements. Random thing this week

So Tuesday morning at work and someone shouted out if anyone fancies being the Aviva Lemur furry mascot for that evening's cup match against Coventry. I said yes thinking why not. Following a brief email conversation with the sponsorship team it was a done deal which included meal and box seats. I turned up at Carrow road at 6:30 and got my ticket from Matt and we had a quick look around the Aviva box where I bumped into Katrina who I used to work with who now works match days at Carrow road hosting. After a bite to eat it was down to the directors entrance to collect my pass and out to meet Captain Canary who give me a pitch side tour of the ground and what I had to do, basically involved no speaking in costume and don't take your head off. Then its a case of high fiving the kids and posing for photos before the official photos with the team captains and mascots before heading off to enjoy the first half.
