Trowse 10k

Trowse 10k today and the stormy weather from last night thankfully had passed and we were treated to a glorious morning.  The lost hour of sleep wasn't as bad a I thought as kids slept in.

The parking was clearly signed and was a 10 min walk from county hall to the ski club.  Marshall's were really friendly and welcoming and the registration process in the clubhouse was quick and painless.

It was at this point I discovered my watch was out of charge so was forced to use my phone and the strava app.  Which after a couple of false starts I managed to work out how to use it.

After a quick cuppa I caught up with a few old friends before heading to the start.  Again I placed myself around the middle of the group to avoid the customary headless chicken start.  Again this plan worked well and once up to pace I maintained it well throughout which was really pleasing.  As with the Hunny Bell I didn't have many people passing me after the first few kilometres and was constantly picking off people in front of me as well as maintaining good pace.

The Trowse hill which I have run up a fair few times in training didn't have any impact on pace and I found I felt strong on the way up and was able to increase pace on the downhill section.

Managed to get a few pictures on the way round including once of former work colleague Jason(598) who I caught up with on the second lap.

The run in to the finish I did manage a sprint finish but do feel I could have could have started this a lot earlier and still maintained pace.  But all in all I'm over the moon to improve my 10k pb by 3 minutes.  I still feel I can improve this again.

The medal was a decent size and fairly weighty and the goody bag was full of chocolate (it is Easter).  All in all a really great event with great support and i'll be definitely doing this again.
