Run Norwich

The event is fantastically well organised and one huge advantage for me working in the city centre is i can register on the friday.

The forum in Norwich was decked out with the run Norwich logo and a fair few stalls.  The registration was slick and well organised and could be done from the email you are sent before the registration opens.  The staff were all friendly and quick and efficient.

In the race pack you get the following:

Magazine which outlines the route, last years race and the usual sponsorship and charity stuff.  Was a good read!.  Your race number with your name on which is a nice touch and the baggage tag and pins.

Race Day !

We parked in Chapelfield and wandered through the race village before heading to the start line where I bumped into Frog.

I lined up with him and we chatted until the start and I tried to maintain pace with him but my lack of training started to tell early on.  The day was very hot but at the same time my training had been flakey at best.

Frog had left me by the 2km mark and so I just settled into my own race and didn't worry about time and just enjoyed the run as best as possible.  To be honest the legs weren't great a my running form was all over the place.  Today was going to be a slow one.  I did get my picture taken and added to the official Facebook page and also it was in the edp24 site.

Looks a lot like Eamon in the black t shirt clapping !

The remainder of the run was pretty uneventful.  I did get caught and passed by Mark Fletcher and after a brief chat he moved on.  The run up Rose land and down Prince of Wales road was tough but I took it steady.  The entire run though just seemed to have no shade at all.   So I found I was really overheating. The highlight was running around the Cathedral which looked amazing in the sunshine. Once up onto Castle Meadow though the wind did help to cool me down and I did even manage a sprint to the finish.  Today was never going to be a quick one and I definitely didn't push myself much at all.  With this in mind my time of 54mins was disappointing but to be expected.  Worse was my running form was all over the place so definitely something to work on.

At the finish you get your medal and a goodie bag plus plenty of banana's and water.

Overall the race is a massive improvement to last years race and i'll definitely do this again.  All the issues with the race last year were ironed out and the route was probably tougher than I expected.
